Our projects range from large custom homes, medium-sized remodels, basement finish, pop tops, tear-down, historic remodels, commercial building/remodels, tenant finish, soft and hard landscape projects. (See Our Specialty)

Do you work outside of Boulder?
Absolutely. We have References from all over Boulder County. Depending on current scheduling we can occasionally accept projects outside Boulder County.

How long have you built in Boulder County?
Odom Construction was established in 1980. We believe our longevity is due to our focus of offering quality, personal service at a competitive price. (See About Ted and Contact Us)

When can you start?
Due to our focus on personal service we generally only run a few projects at a time. Timing factors are the size of job and length of construction period. We can help you establish what those are for you. Many people who contact us and believe they are ready to begin construction are surprised with delays obtaining a building permit. We often assist our clients even before they are clients. We can start helping in the idea phase, working with Architects, working through the building permit stage and establishing costs.

How do you charge for your services?
It depends on your project. Regardless, framing/trim materials and subcontractor items (the big ticket items) are generally a fixed bid. Invoices are produced monthly for work complete and payments are due monthly.

Do you require cash up-front?
I have long established credit with my subcontractors and suppliers and usually do not require a deposit of "up-front" money. Monthly invoices are produced for material and work in place. Some specialty materials occasionally require deposits.

Do you work with banks whom finance building projects?
Yes. I have "approved builder" status with several local banks. I can recommend a banking institution if needed.

How long will my project take?
This is established during the bidding/estimating process. I am know for timely completion of my projects.

Do you have an Architect you recommend?
I have excellent, long-term working relationships with many local Architects (some have also become my clients). A referral can be made based on the type of project. I am happy to work with your Architect as well.

Are you a "Green Builder"?
Yes. The City and County of Boulder have many "green" requirements and I am familiar with them. I can make recommendations for green materials beyond what the City and County require.

Anytime is fine. The sooner, the better for you. Having established a relationship with us several months prior to construction allows us to assist your Architect design for your budget and help with the building permit process. It also allows us to give Subcontractors adequate notice of their start dates.

Do you charge for bids?
There is no charge for preliminary or "rough" estimates. Charges for bidding depends on the size of the project. If incurred, any charges are usually included into my fixed fee.

Are you licensed?
I am licensed in the County of Boulder and the city of Boulder. I also hold several other city licenses within the County. I have both a "B" and "C" Contractor's license. I have Professional Liability insurance and have been claim-free since 1980.

Who will manage my project? A superintendent or you?
To ensure personal service, quality construction and building in a timely manner, I pride myself in being "hands-on". I personally supervise and manage all my projects. (See Contact Us)

Do you have local references?
Yes. Many. In all areas of my work ... home building, remodels, commercial, tenant finish, soft and hard landscape projects.

Do you use local subcontractors?
Yes, I have long established relationships with local subcontractors (and material suppliers). And in all areas of my work. (See Our Team)

Do I need a building permit?
For the most part, yes. We discuss this early in conversations. The Architects I work with are well-versed in the ever changing requirements of the County and Cities in Boulder County. This is often a critical part in the design/building process.

Do I need an Architect or full architectural service?
Yes, you usually need an Architect. The level of service depends on the complexity of the projects. We can assist you in determining your need. We are happy to refer you to an Architect who specialized in your type of project.
